September 11th...13 years later, and the current
threat of ISIS.

I hope and pray that our country never lives to see another day like
9-11-01. I say this knowing that our chances of seeing something
as horrific as that day again are pretty good. Unless you have been sleeping under a rock, or lost in your smart phones and Facebook, the dangers of America facing something that horrifying
are all to real.

I am of course talking about ISIS.

Forget Al Qeada (for the moment). ISIS is the NEW threat to not only the US, but the world at large. Remember how life was on September 10th, 2001? None of us had a care in the world. Life was sweet. Just a merry go round of fun and laughter. Then the morning of 9-11 came along and changed everything and everyone. Forever.

That threat is as good today as it was 13 years ago.

How is that possible? Well...how is any evil possible in the world? I mean since the beginning of time, we humans have been dealing with evil on so many levels throughout world history, that you could literally pick up any history book and thumb through just about any decade, and find something evil happening, somewhere on the planet.

From Attila The Hun to Adolf Hitler. From Pol Pot to Osama Bin Laden. Evil is out there. And ISIS is the next big thing on the evil stage. And they are for real. This is not some goof-ball brother act
like we saw on Marathon Monday in Boston a couple of years ago. This is way bigger. Way more organized. With way more money,
and way more evil. In short, this SHIT is for real.

ISIS is a threat to all of humanity, if we sit back and do nothing.

And look, I know I bust on the current administration a lot (with good reason) but even "they know" how serious the threat of ISIS really is. They had better know. The killing of unarmed women and children, the beheading of civilian journalists, the raw and vicious tactics that they practice is nothing short of a modern day blitzkrieg. What we are witnessing today... RIGHT now, is something that should not only wake up America, but the entire world.

Wake the F*** UP WORLD! Let's STOP this evil virus today!

This week marks the 13th anniversary of 9-11. Those of you who are old enough to remember that day know that we had insane surf that morning. Just perfect surf from Hurricane Erin. So many of us were either out surfing, or shooting the surf. I know I did both. A beautiful cloudless morning. Not a single cloud in the sky. Perfect waves.

A day that made us all realize just how beautiful life was here
in New Hampshire.

But these two evil sons of bitches had already implemented a cowardly plan that was several years in the making. By 9:00AM on that fateful morning the whole world would know. Life changed that day. And it changed for two surfers and their families who surfed
here in New Hampshire.

Below is a photo of Tommy Percorelli, brother of local surf mom Angela Percorelli (Veltsos) . Tommy was on the first plane out of Logan that hit the north tower that morning. American Airlines
Flt 11. Angela and other family and friends never got over losing Tommy. And they shouldn't. And neither should we.

Remember this photo on Thursday September 11th, 2014.

And remember this man too. Bob Hayes. A surfer who surfed here in NH for many years. Bob was also on that first flight. He left behind a wife and two young sons. Bob was a surfer. We had a paddle for Bob that September right here in Hampton. Remember both of these young men cut down in the prime of their lives, because of some evil ideology about radical Islamic teachings.

F*** Al Qeada! And F*** ISIS!

Don't mean to be so graphic and vulgar but this shit demands immediate attention. This is not some "Blog" filler. This is real. And the sooner the free world gets on the same page, the sooner we can rest easy (for a while at least), because evil is always lurking around that next corner. It just is...we do not live in a Mr Roger's Neighborhood world.

We live in a scary and frightening world, and thank god we have the men and women who have volunteered to fight and die for our country and the freedoms we all relish. This week we will honor those individuals from the state of New Hampshire who have fought and died for us all since September 11th, 2001. Each year we add the new names of those from New Hampshire who have died fighting in the Global War On Terrorism . On Thursday September 11th, 2014
at 6:00PM we will be adding two NEW names.

We must never forget. And we should all pay tribute to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Later in the week is the FUND RAISER in Memory of My Talented Nephew Michael Colby. This night will mark the first time that the Original Nor'easters have played together again. It's all going down
in Newburyport, MA...check it out.

"Ed's Corner" pic this week is one from 2009. This is Tony Berardini out surfing in front of his house. It was just Tony and I
out there that morning. We both came away with some memorable photos from Ed that morning. I know I'll never forget that day, and I have a feeling Tony won't either.

Each week I will feature one of Ed's great pics from this blog.

Local COMIC LEGEND JIMMY DUNN keeps getting the great press coverage. Check it out. Jimmy is in PEOPLE Magazine this week. I love it.

Even Jimmy appears to be shocked by it all.

Don't know why, he's earned every drop of ink. One of the hardest working comics in the business. This is your time JIMMY...and you are going to shine bright for many years to come.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances

The big story this week besides ISIS is the passing of comic Icon Joan Rivers. I was genuinely surprised by some of he negative comments I read on social media. I guess some did not like her. I was not a huge fan but I could certainly see and grasp what she had done for all the women comics of today.

And I did like that she was ruthless with some celebs (including Obama and his wife). I loved that. She did not care who you were or what you wore. She was going to rip you a new asshole. And 9 out of 10 times she did. I think that Johnny Carson banning her from the Tonight Show was a sexist and juvenile act. I liked you Johnny, but that was immature and bush league. You should be ashamed of yourself (wherever you are).

This was one talented woman. And at 81 years old she had her finger on the button of all the social media, and utilized all the windows of opportunity, that afforded her the ability to promote
her highly skilled craft that she had honed for many many decades. She was not your average 81 year old.

Rest In Peace Joan...you were one funny and giving person.

Meanwhile, let's all take a minute, and enjoy the weekly
humiliation of the mastermind terrorist who killed 3,000 innocent civilians on September 11th, 2001. Here we see our boy KSM being ridiculed by Joan Rivers last year on the FASHION POLICE. Clearly KSM had zero fashion sense.

Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), the mastermind behind 9-11
the captured Al Qeada ICON is getting his weekly slap in the
face. You're welcome KSM fans.

* Note to self: Must pick up a case of used GQ magazines at Home Depot this week.

The Patriots played The Dolphins today in Miami. It was the season opener...it was also a stink fest. I mean, they STUNK UP THE PLACE. Just awful. Terrible. Embarrassing beyond belief. Really? You pigskin experts are predicting them to not only get to the Superbowl but to actually win it? DID YOU WATCH THAT GAME TODAY? WTF??????

A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.
Yesterday- September 11th, 2001. Hurricane Erin.
(Below) I have basically run out of things to say about this day and this photo. The image is of Shane Smith surfing here in NH. He was unaware of what was happening in the world. Think about that. At the time this footage was shot, he had NO idea what was happening. I wish we could all go back to that time. I mean the day before and know what we know today. But that's a pipe dream ...because everything changed that day. Forever.

SEPTEMBER 11th, 2001 from Ralph's Pic Of The Week on Vimeo.

This is the actual footage I shot the morning of September 11th, 2001. There was a hurricane off the coast, Hurricane ERIN, and we had a perfect 6' swell running. There was not a single cloud in the sky...

The footage is of a handful of local surfers listening to the radio broadcast of Howard Stern, as perfect waves peeled off in the background. We had friends flying to Mexico that morning, and we were all concerned.

Later we found out that our good friend Bob Hayes was on the first plane out of Boston. Flt 11 that hit the North Tower. Bob Hayes, a surfer, was married with two young sons. And another surfer, then Angela Velstos, lost her brother Tommy on the same flight.

None of us who were around that day, will ever forget it. This is raw footage.

The camera work is jumpy and my voice sounds stressed, but this is what happened in our world on that dark day, 10 years ago today.

May the souls of all who died on that day, and those who have died since, fighting in the Global War on Terrorism Rest In Peace.
